Make sure you can receive messages and notifications from us!

Many E-mail services and Internet Service Providers (ISP) such as AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail have SPAM filters to give you greater control over what e-mails reach your inbox to help you avoid unwanted junk e-mail. Unfortunately, these filters are often turned on and set fairly strict by default which will often block e-mails you wish to receive unless you add the sender to your e-mail address book and/or update your e-mail program's white list and/or turn off your spam filters if it's possible.

This is especially important for the signup process as you will be sent an confirmation email which you will need in order to activate your account. This is an automated system therefore if you don't receive the confirmation email you'll have to go to your email account and search through your spam, junk or bulk email boxes and hope it's sitting there as sometimes spam is just automatically deleted.

If you didn't receive your confirmation email first check your online spam, junk or bulk email boxes. If you can't find it then contact us and we will manually activate your account for you. Before you contact us you will first need to add us to your contact list or you most likely won't receive our response notifying you that your account has been activated, furthermore you also won't receive any future notifications from our when someone has sent you a message on the site.

Add us to your Whitelist or Contact List!
This is the safe way to ensure that you will receive emails from us.

We have provided instructions for a few of the more popular email services:
AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, and Others


AOL Users
  1. Click the Mail menu and select Address Book.
  2. Wait for the "Address Book" window to pop up, then click the Add button.
  3. Wait for the "Address Card for New Contact" window to load.
  4. Copy & Paste or Type @hitching-post.net into the "Other E-Mail" field.
  5. Make our From address the "Primary E-Mail" address by checking the associated check box.
  6. Click the Save button.
Note: You only have to include "@hitching-post.net" not the full email address as this will allow any emails coming from our site.

If our email arrives in your Spam or Junk Folder, please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button.


Yahoo Users
  1. Open your mailbox and click on Mail Options (upper right hand corner).
  2. Select Filters (bottom left corner).
  3. Click the Add link on the Filters page.
  4. Update the "From header:" rule with the following 2 pieces of information: "contains" and @hitching-post.net (This tells Yahoo to identify our emails based on it's "From" address field)
  5. Click the Choose Folder pull down menu and select Inbox.
  6. Pick the Add Filter button.
Note: You only have to include "@hitching-post.net" not the full email address as this will allow any emails coming from our site.

You can also automatically add our email address to your Contacts folder by clicking the rolodex-card button with a plus sign on it. The button is to the right of the email address when you open our message.

If our email arrives in your Spam or Junk Folder, please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button. Check to be sure we have been added to your Contact List as described above.


Hotmail Users
  1. Open your mailbox and click “Options” (upper right hand corner).
  2. Click the “Junk E-Mail Protection” link (top of page)
  3. Select the “Safe List” link (2nd from bottom).
  4. Copy & Paste or Type @hitching-post.net into the dialog box titled “Type an address or domain”.
  5. Click the “Add” button next to the dialog box.
Note: You only have to include "@hitching-post.net" not the full email address as this will allow any emails coming from our site.

If our email is in your Junk E-Mail Folder, open the email and click the Not Junk button. Next, check to see if our email address is in your Blocked Senders list. If you see @hitching-post.net on this list, select it and click the Remove button. Finally, if you have not done so, add @hitching-post.net into your Safe List as outlined above.


Gmail Users
  1. Click Contacts along the left side of any Gmail page.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. Copy & Paste or Type @hitching-post.net into the primary email address dialog box.
  4. Click Save.

If our email arrives in your Spam or Junk Folder, please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button.

Tip: You can also add a sender's email address to your Gmail Contacts list from any message, here's how:
  1. Open the message from our site.
  2. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message pane.
  3. Click Add (sender's name or address) to Contacts list.

Other Users

The instructions for adding us to your whitelist or contact list will depend on the specific email service you are using. If you access the help files, instruction manual or customer support, there should be instructions on how to do this.

In most cases, just by adding our From address to your address book, safe list, whitelist or contact list will be sufficient.

If our emails are not getting to your inbox, then we suggest checking your spam folder, bulk folder or junk folder. If you find our email there, you will need to find a way to inform your mail account that it is not spam. Most likely the course of action is to select our email and click on the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button, if available.
