Receiving Emails



Make sure you can receive messages and notifications from us! ... Add us to your Contact List!

Unfortunately due to the increasingly strict filtering methods being used by E-mail Service Providers, this is this best, and often the only way to ensure you will receive email notifications from our site.

We never send spam or advertising or share your email with any 3rd parties!

We have provided instructions for some of the more popular email services which we have tested and worked with to try and ensure we are in compliance with their guidelines and accepted as a safe sender.



Yahoo Users
Instructions provided are for those using Yahoo Classic Mail because it's a bit easier to use and explain. If you're using the New Yahoo Mail, the process is basically the same. If you're not very familiar with how to add contacts you can easily switch to Yahoo Classic Mail for the purpose of these instructions by clicking the "Mail Classic" link


  1. Click on the Contacts Tab.
  2. Click the Add Contact Tab.
  3. In the Name section add Hitching Post and in the Email section add @hitching-post.net
  4. Click Save and then on the next page click Done!


Note: You only have to include "@hitching-post.net" not the full email address as this will allow any emails coming from our site.

If our email arrives in your Spam or Junk Folder, please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button. Check to be sure we have been added to your Contact List as described above.



MSN Hotmail Users
  1. Open your Contacts list
  2. Click on Mail (left hand side menu)
  3. Click the Contacts tab. This will open your contacts list
  4. Select the “Safe List” link (2nd from bottom).
  5. Copy & Paste or Type hitching-post.net into the dialog box titled “Type an address or domain”.
  6. Click the “Add” button next to the dialog box.


Note: You only have to include "hitching-post.net" not the full email address as this will allow any emails coming from our site.

If our email is in your Junk E-Mail Folder, open the email and click the Not Junk button. Next, check to see if our email address is in your Blocked Senders list. If you see hitching-post.net on this list, select it and click the Remove button. Finally, if you have not done so, add hitching-post.net into your Safe List as outlined above.



Windows Live/Hotmail Users
  1. Open your mailbox and click “Options” (upper right hand corner).
  2. Click on Mail (left hand side menu)
  3. Click the “Junk E-Mail Protection” link (top of page)
  4. Select “Safe List” or “Safe and Blocked Senders”.
  5. Under Safe and Blocked Senders, select “Safe Senders”.
  6. Copy & Paste or Type hitching-post.net into the dialog box titled “Type an address or domain”.
  7. Click the “Add” button next to the dialog box.

If our email is in your Junk E-Mail Folder, open the email and click the Not Junk button. Next, check to see if our email address is in your Blocked Senders list. If you see hitching-post.net on this list, select it and click the Remove button. Finally, if you have not done so, add hitching-post.net into your Safe List as outlined above.



Gmail Users
  1. At the top right, click the link that says SETTINGS.
  2. At the top of the screen where it says MAIL SETTINGS, click the link that says FILTERS (second from left).
  3. On the FILTERS screen, click the tab that says Create a New Filter tab.
  4. In the FROM field in the CREATE A FILTER screen, type hitching-post.net and change NO other settings on this screen.
  5. Click the button that says NEXT STEP.
  6. Check the boxs that says "Star it" and "Never send it to spam".
  7. Click the button that says CREATE FILTER.

If our email arrives in your Spam or Junk Folder, please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button.

Tip: You can also add our email address to your Gmail Contacts list from any message, here's how:
  1. Open the message from our site.
  2. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message pane.
  3. Click Add (sender's name or address) to Contacts list.


AOL 9 Users

Step 1:
Log in to your inbox and click on the mail tab option.
Next, click the Address Book.


Step 2:
Click Add to add a new contact.


Step 3:
Type in the domain @hitching-post.net into the other email text box, click on the radio button and finally click the save button to complete the process.




AOL Web Mail Users

Step 1:
Sign into your AOL Web Basic account.
Next, on the upper right, click the Settings link.


Step 2:
In the left panel, click the Spam Settings link.


Step 3:
In the Spam Filter section, be sure you have Medium selected.


Step 4:
In the Sender Filter section, click Allow email from addresses I specify, and then enter @hitching-post.net into the text box. Ensure that you separate the different e-mail addresses and domain names with commas.


Step 5:
Finally click the save button to complete the process.




Other Users

The instructions for adding us to your safe sender or contact list, or spam filter settings, and will depend on the specific email service you are using. If you access your email help or support documentation, there should be specific instructions on how to do this.

Many will allow you to add a site's domain to a safe list, which would be either @hitching-post.net or just hitching-post.net

In some cases, they may only allow you to add a full email address to your contact list or address book. In that event you can include the following:


If our emails are not arriving in your inbox, try checking your spam, bulk or junk folder. If you find our email there, you will need to find a way to inform your mail account that it is not spam. Most likely the course of action is to select our email and click on the This Is Not Spam or This Is Not Junk button, if available.
